The wind was howling, and the wind chill hovered at 4 degrees.
In the middle of it all, a single mom stood in a parking lot, carefully loading her two- and three-year-old into the car. Tiny coats zipped. Mittens pulled on. A quick kiss on each forehead. Then off they would go—to daycare first, and then on to work.
It was just another morning on the outside.
But on the inside, it took courage.
Single moms don’t get snow days. They don’t get to stay home when the weather is brutal or the night before was sleepless. They show up—tired, determined, and carrying the weight of providing, nurturing, and protecting all at once.
As the wind cut through her coat, this mom wasn’t thinking about the cold. She was thinking about being on time. About keeping her job. About making sure her children were safe, warm, and cared for.
Then something beautiful happened.
Our snowplower arrived to clear the driveway. But instead of jumping straight into his task, he saw people. He noticed a single mom standing beside a car buried under layers of snow.
Without hesitation, he grabbed his broom and began clearing off her car.
No applause. No spotlight. Just kindness.
What a joy it was for that mom—to have someone lend a hand as she manages life alone. In that moment, the weight she carried felt just a little lighter. She was seen. She was supported.
This is what love looks like in action.
At Thrive on Purpose, we believe these moments matter. When we slow down enough to truly see people, ordinary days become sacred opportunities. A broom becomes hope. A small act becomes encouragement. And a struggling mom is reminded she is not alone.
Jesus said:
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40
This week, we invite you to see people and share love on purpose.
You don’t have to do something big to make a difference. Sometimes it’s as simple as picking up a broom.
At Thrive on Purpose, we exist to help individuals, churches, and communities live out their faith in practical, life-giving ways—bringing hope, help, and encouragement to those walking hard roads.
If this story moved you, consider:
Because when we choose to see people, share love on purpose, lives are changed—one small act at a time.
