Ever Have a Down Day? Here’s a Simple Way Back Into the Light

Ever have one of those days where you wake up with little energy… feeling a bit “off,” in a funk, or just not quite yourself?

We all do.

But I’ve discovered something simple—and powerful—that can pull us out of that fog:
Think of someone else who might be hurting… and reach out.

Maybe it’s someone who just had surgery.

A single mom trying to hold everything together.
A friend who recently lost a loved one.
Someone struggling financially or walking through a difficult relationship.

And then—do something small but meaningful:
A phone call.
A visit.
Sending a card and for those struggling financially if you can add a $20 bill. Dropping off a little treat or sandwiches.

It’s amazing how quickly our own hearts lift when we turn our focus outward. And the beautiful part? It brightens their day too.

The Bible reminds us of this calling:

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others.” — 1 Peter 4:10

Today, I want to challenge myself—and anyone reading this—to love our neighbors in practical, everyday ways.

A phone call.
A meal.
A little cash.

A ride.

A hug.
A listening ear.

Small acts, big impact.

Let’s use the gifts God has given us to serve others and spread His grace in our communities. A little love offered at the right moment can change the course of someone’s entire day… including our own.
